Volvo Car Corp. is pondering a plan to produce Lynk & Co SUV/crossover vehicles at its factory in Gent, Belgium, Bloomberg News reports.

CEO Hakan Samuelsson tells the news service that Volvo also might use its European logistics operations and vehicle repair network to support Lynk sales in the region.

Volvo Cars holds a 30% stake in Lynk & Co, and both companies are owned by China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. Geely confirmed previously that it plans to begin a marketing push in Europe in mid-2019.

Lynk began selling its first model, the compact 01 crossover, in China late last year. The five-seat model is made by a Geely plant in Luqiao, China, that also builds Volvo XC40 small crossovers.

Lynk targets relatively young buyers and is testing unconventional marketing techniques that include online sales and shared ownership plans.
