Michigan-based VLF Automotive is developing an open-top version of its Dodge Viper-based VLF Force 1 V10 coupe.
VLF released a sketch of the convertible this week and plans to publicly unveil the vehicle next month at the Shanghai auto show. The company introduced the $268,000 Force 1 coupe at last year’s Detroit auto show.
The roadster is expected to maintain the coupe’s 8.4-liter V-10 engine, which produces 745 hp and 638 lb-ft of torque. The coupe can rocket from zero to 60 mph in less than three seconds and has a top speed of more than 218 mph.
VLF Automotive was formed in early 2016 by partners Gilbert Villarreal, Bob Lutz and Henrik Fisker. The company is an expanded version of VL Automotive, which Lutz and Villarreal launched in 2012.
