Valeo SA, which operates 30 facilities across China, is expanding at six of those locations and building two more factories in the country.

Valeo SA, which operates 30 facilities across China, is expanding at six of those locations and building two more factories in the country.

The French supplier of electronics and lighting systems is adding capacity at factories in Changchun, Guangzhou, Loudi, Nanjing, Yantan and Zhengzhou. The company also expects to open a factory in Qingdao by the end of this year. Another plant is under construction in Chongqing.

Valeo’s Chinese operation make a broad range of products from sensors and engine stop-start systems to lighting modules and 48-volt mild-hybrid systems.

Valeo’s Chinese operations are headquartered in Beijing. The unit’s revenue soared 22% to €2.3 billion ($2.6 billion) in 2016. Sales to carmakers in China climbed 25% to €564 million ($633 million) in the first quarter of 2017.
