An employee of a Hyundai Motor Co. affiliate has sued the carmaker in U.S. federal court for allegedly failing to pay overtime and cheating workers out of breaks, Bloomberg News reports.
The plaintiff works for the South Korean company's Hyundai Rotem unit at a plant in Philadelphia that assembles railroad cars. She contends that Hyundai Rotem automatically deducts 30 minutes of paid time from paychecks for meal breaks, even on shifts when no break was taken.
The lawsuit, which seeks class-action status, charges that the company also didn't pay employees for work done after their regular shift ended.
