General Motors Co. is recalling 312,300 cars and crossovers in five global campaigns to repair a variety of defects ranging from malfunctioning ignition switches and loose suspension parts to faulty seatbelts and storage lids.

The new batch of recalls brings GM's total for 2014 to 66 campaigns and 29.1 million vehicles worldwide.

The biggest of the new callbacks involves 215,200 of the company's 2002-2004 model Saturn Vue crossovers. GM says it may be possible to remove the ignition key while the engine is still running. If so, dealers will replace the ignition cylinder and key.

GM also is recalling 72,800 model year 2013 Cadillac ATS small sedans and Buick Encore small crossovers to repair front seatbelt pretensioners systems that may not work correctly in a crash.

Three other smaller campaigns involve 2014 Chevy Spark minicars (loose front suspension parts), Chevy Aveo and 2009 Pontiac G3 small cars (brake system defect) and 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala sedans (faulty storage console latch).
