Lamborghini SpA will take the wraps off a high-performance variant of its all-wheel-drive Huracan supercar at the Geneva auto show in March.

Dubbed the Huracan Performante, the new model is expected to be lighter and faster than the base coupe. The car also will introduce Lamborghini’s ALA (Aerodynamica Lamborghini Attiva) active aerodynamic system, which media reports say uses electric motors to control several small flaps and wings around the vehicle as needed.

Power will come from a revised version of the carmaker’s 5.2-liter V-10 engine that will get new intake and exhaust camshafts and an air intake borrowed from the Super Trofeo Huracan. The engine also will benefit from a new exhaust system and a dual (multi-point and stratified) fuel injection process. The changes are expected to bump the naturally aspirated V-10’s output as much as 7% to 602 hp and 453 lb-ft of torque, media reports suggest.

Enhancements to enable quicker shifts are planned for the car’s 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Other upgrades include a retuned suspension, stickier tires, advanced electronic controllers and more extensive use of carbon fiber components.
