Uber Technologies Inc. has suspended tests on public roads of self-driving vehicles after one of its specially equipped Volvo XC90 cars was involved in a crash in Tempe, Ariz.

Tempe police tell Bloomberg News the Uber car was not at fault. The collision occurred when a conventional car failed to yield to the test car, according to the police report. Images from the Fresco News service show the test car on its side with two other damaged cars nearby.

Uber says its car was operating in automatic mode with two backup drivers on board and no other occupants. There were no significant injuries.

Uber has been testing autonomous driving technology in Tempe, Pittsburgh and San Francisco. The company says it resumed tests in California today.
