Truck Sales Jump 7% in Europe

Deliveries of commercial vans, trucks and buses climbed 7% to 229,100 units in Europe last month, according to trade group ACEA.

October sales were led by France (+7% to 48,100 vehicles), Germany (+17% to 37,500) and the U.K. (+11% to 33,800). Deliveries in Spain advanced 2% to 20,900 units. Sales in Italy fell 13% to 19,600 units.

Demand for light commercial vehicles expanded 6% to 186,600 trucks last month. Sales of heavy-duty trucks rose 7% to 31,700 units. Registrations of medium- and heavy-duty buses zoomed 24% to 3,500 vehicles.

ACEA reports that total new commercial vehicle sales across Europe through the first 10 months of 2018 grew 4% to 2.14 million units.
