Registrations of new commercial vehicles across Europe rose to 170,700 units in February from 148,600 units in the same period last year, trade group ACEA reports.

February’s sales growth of 3% compares with rates of 8% in January, 11% in December and 13% in November. European demand for trucks climbed 11% in calendar 2016.

Last month's sales improved in France (+4% to 38,400 units), Spain (+13% to 16,500) and Italy (+11% to 16,200). Volume was flat at 25,500 units in Germany and fell 3% to 16,200 vehicles in the U.K.

ACEA notes that February deliveries of heavy-duty trucks advanced 1% to 22,100 units compared with gains of 4% in January and 17% in December.
