Toyota Motor Corp. is investing €400 million ($490 million) in its facility in Onnaing, France, to produce a second vehicle there, reports Les Echos.
The French business newspaper says the new model will be based on the carmaker’s TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, which also carries the Prius hybrid sedan and C-HR small crossover vehicle. Toyota declined to comment.
The carmaker currently builds its subcompact Yaris car at the plant, which is located near Valenciennes in northern France. The facility employs about 4,000 people.
