Toyota Motor Corp. will take the wraps off a 4x4 concept vehicle called the FT-4X next month at the New York auto show.
Accompanying a teaser image released this week, the carmaker describes the vehicle as “four wheeling, scene stealing.” The cropped photo focuses on an off-road Goodyear tire and rugged body cladding.
Media reports speculate the concept could preview a successor to Toyota’s FJ 40 and FJ Cruiser SUVs to compete against the next-generation Jeep Wrangler and all-new Ford Bronco. Toyota discontinued the retro FJ Cruiser last year after a 10-year run (U.S. sales ended in 2014).
