Toyota Recalls Minivans that Can Slip Out of Park

Toyota Motor Corp. is preparing a worldwide recall to fix 347,100 of its Sienna minivans with transmissions that could slip out of “Park” and roll away.
The callback involved 2005-2007 and 2009-2010 models. Toyota says about 90% of affected vehicles are in the U.S. The company will begin notifying owners about the callback in mid-December.
Toyota blames the problem on grease in the shift lever assembly that may contaminate the shift lock solenoid. If that happens, the transmission could shift out of Park by itself or when the shift lever is nudged. Dealers will replace the solenoid and re-grease the shifter.
