Toyota, Hitachi Team Up on Internet of Things
Toyota Motor Corp. and Hitachi Ltd. plan to jointly create a new production system based on an Internet of Things (IoT) platform.

Toyota Motor Corp. and Hitachi Ltd. plan to jointly create a new production system based on an Internet of Things (IoT) platform.
The platform will use Hitachi’s “Lumada” IoT software, which the partners say leverages artificial intelligence and big data analysis. Verification will be done at Toyota’s so-called model plants in Japan starting this month.
Connecting various devices and processes, the new platform aims to collect, analyze and share data throughout a manufacturing facility. Toyota and Hitachi say this will allow them to quickly and continuously make quality and productivity improvements.
