Toyota Motor Corp. has agreed to continue building its Auris hatchback in the U.K. in a vote of confidence in the country’s competitiveness after it exits the EU in 2019.

The company says it will build the next-generation Auris at its Burnaston plant, which employs about 3,000 workers. Toyota announced last year it was investing £240 million ($331 million) to prepare the factory for the new model and perhaps others that share the car’s global platform.

The Burnaston factory was opened in 1989. The plant currently makes standard and hybrid versions of the Auris and the Avensis sedan.
