Toyota Affiliates to Open Repair Shops in Indonesia, Thailand

Car parts suppliers Aisin Seiki and Denso and trading house Tokyota Tsusho intend to introduce auto repair shops in Indonesia and Thailand later this year, The Nikkei reports.

The facilities will cater to owners of older cars, offering them lower-cost service than is available through dealerships, according to the Tokyo-based newspaper. It says the first facilities will be existing repair shops, which will receive special training and management support.

The three companies, all affiliates of Toyota Motor Corp., have already tested the concept through a joint venture that has opened repair centers in Cambodia and Myanmar under the Pit & Go name.
