Toshiba Corp. says its new 1/3-inch CMOS image sensor can deliver 1080p resolution color video images at 60 frames per second under conditions ranging from moonlight to harsh sunlight.
Toshiba Corp. says its new 1/3-inch CMOS image sensor can deliver 1080p resolution color video images at 60 frames per second under conditions ranging from moonlight to harsh sunlight.
The company says the device's performance makes it well-suited for automotive, security and surveillance applications.
The TCM5117PL sensor has a 2.7-micrometer pixel array and operates on a 3.3-volt power supply. The system, which comes in a 10.5x10.0 mm package, includes Toshiba's color noise reduction technology.
The single-frame system is better suited than conventional multi-frame systems for capturing fast-moving objects, according to the company. It says the sensor's single-frame approach produces sharper, higher-quality images, especially in high-contrast conditions.
