Tesla Inc. plans to expand its ability to service its electric cars by adding 100 service centers, 350 mobile repair vans and 1,400 technicians worldwide over the next 12 months.
Much of the expansion is intended to support the launch of Tesla’s first mass-market car, the $35,000 Model 3 sedan, this summer.
Last year Tesla sold a record 76,200 of its pricy electric Model S sedans ($69,500) and Model X crossovers ($82,500). The company expects to deliver some 500,000 Model 3 EVs per year by 2019.
