Tesla Motors Inc. CEO Elon Musk tells Autocar that the California-based electric car company is likely to open an R&D center in the U.K. in 2015.
Musk says he is considering Britain's Midlands for the facility, which would work on complete programs for European versions of its vehicles. He emphasizes that the center would not simply modify American-made cars for Europe, explaining, "We want to attract the top talent."
Musk tells Autocar that a British production plant for Tesla vehicle is not likely, however. The company currently supplies the European market with Model S electric sedans assembled in the Netherlands from American-made kits.
