Brian Kesseler, Tenneco Inc.’s chief operating officer for the past two years, will take over as CEO on May 17.

Brian Kesseler, Tenneco Inc.’s chief operating officer for the past two years, will take over as CEO on May 17.

He will succeed Gregg Sherrill, who has been chairman and CEO since 2007. Sherrill, 64, will continue as executive chairman of the Lake Forest, Ill., maker of filtration, exhaust and suspension components.

Kesseler headed Johnson Control Inc.’s Power Solutions starter-battery division before joining Tenneco in 2015.
