The business newspaper cites sources who say Tata will borrow technology from its Jaguar Land Rover unit to develop five- and seven-seat editions of the vehicle. JLR also will provide support for chassis a vehicle handling development.
The Mint says Tata has targeted annual sales of 80,000 SUVs in India, southeast Asia and the Middle East. The newspaper describes the new model as part of an overall Tata board-approved product expansion through 2020.
