The overall market shrank 8% to 89,000 units. New-car deliveries fell 12% to 34,700 units, representing 39% of the market. Demand for SUVs slipped 4% to 35,500 units for a 39.9% share.
The trade association says sales of light- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles fell 6% and 10%, respectively, in February.
The market’s top-selling brands are Toyota with an 18% market share, followed by Mazda (11%), Hyundai (8%), Mitsubishi (7%) and General Motors Holden (6%).
