Fuji Heavy Industries' Subaru unit is recalling an estimated 200,000 cars in the U.S. to check for brake lines that could rust and leak.
The campaign involves 2005-2009 Legacy sedans and Outback wagons sold or registered in Washington, D.C., and the country's 20 "salt belt" states.
Subaru, reports no crashes related to the problem, which it discovered during its own vehicles tests. Dealers will apply an anti-corrosion wax coating to lines that pass inspection and replace those that are leaking.
