Subaru Motors Corp. has promoted Tom Doll, CFO and chief operating officer of its U.S. unit, to president, effective April 1. Doll will retain his current titles.
He assumes his new job from Takeshi Tachimori, who will continue to serve as the company's CEO. Doll is the highest-ranking non-Japanese executive at Subaru of America.
Doll joined the company's U.S. business in 1982 and has worked his way up to become the unit's CFO in 1994. He added COO duties in 2009.
In his new post, Doll will be responsible for the profitability of Subaru of America, which accounts for nearly half of parent Subaru's global deliveries. The company aims to cap last year's 26% U.S. sales jump to 336,400 vehicles with a 9% gain this year. That would mark its fifth consecutive American sales record.
