South Korean SUV maker SsangYong Motor Co. has reestablished sales operations in Melbourne, Australia, after exiting the market two years ago.

The move is part of an effort by the company, which was acquired in 2010 by India’s Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. in 2010, to broaden its base overseas. The company already ships vehicles to Europe, the Middle East and South America.

Until now, SsangYong Motors has partnered outside Korea with local distributors. It left the Australian market in 2016 after ending a distribution partnership with a local dealer.

The Melbourne office marks SsangYong’s first overseas subsidiary. The company is offering the Rexton midsize crossover and small XLV mini-SUV (known as the Tivoli in Korea) in Australia.
