The all-new aluminum-intensive trucks will go into production late this year. All Ford dealers will receive some units for inventory by year end.
Ford is idling its Dearborn, Mich. F-Series factory today to begin retooling the facility for the new model. Analysts say the extensive overhaul required to produce the aluminum pickup is unparalleled for such a high-production model.
Last year Ford sold 763,400 F-Series trucks, its highest-volume nameplate, in the U.S., according to Autodata Corp.
