Volkswagen AG’s Skoda unit took the wraps off its upcoming Kamiq crossover/SUV on Monday ahead of the vehicle’s public unveiling later this week at the Beijing auto show.

Skoda plans to sell the Kamiq exclusively in China, where it will compete against the Citroen C3-XR, Hyundai ix25 and Nissan Kicks. The new model will be built on a modified version of Skoda’s PQ platform and be powered by an all-new 1.5-liter engine that produces 109 hp and 111 lb-ft of torque. There are no plans to offer an electrified version of the vehicle.

The Kamiq will sit below the Karoq in Skoda’s four-model crossover/SUV lineup in China. The carmaker also sells the larger Kodiaq and is introducing the Kodiaq GT coupe in in China, which already is the Czech brand’s largest market.

By 2020, Skoda intends to grow its annual sales in China to 600,000 units. The company sold 325,000 vehicles there last year.
