Volkswagen AG’s SEAT unit has filed several trademarks that could signify the company is planning to expand its Cupra trim package into a performance sub-brand similar to Audi Sport, BMW M, Mercedes AMG and Volvo Polestar, Autocar reports.

The new trademarks include a stylish logo and the names of at least three former concept vehicles: Bolero, Salsa and Tango. Autocar notes that SEAT recently added a Cupra 300 version of its Leon hatchback and plans to launch the Ateca Cupra early next year and possibly a Leon Cupra R later.

The three concept vehicles debuted more than 15 years ago but never made it into production. The coupe-like Bolero sports sedan was first in 1998, followed by the Salsa hatchback in 2000 and the Tango compact convertible a year later.

If approved, the Tango would be SEAT’s first production convertible and likely serve as a halo model for the brand. Downplaying the trademarks, SEAT says it regularly registers names for potential future models and projects.
