Bearing supplier Schaeffler AG has elected Matthias Zink as CEO of its automotive operations, effective Jan. 1.

Zink, 47, succeeds Norbert Indlekofer, 59, who left at the end of last month at his own request, according to the company.

Zink, a mechanical engineer, joined Schaeffler in 1994. Most recently he was president of the Transmission Systems division. He previously served in China as president of Schaeffler operations in Asia Pacific.
