Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., India’s largest carmaker, says a 36% drop in exports last month cut its overall sales volume by 1% to 128,300 units.

It was the second consecutive month of slippage as sharp declines in export demand offset modest gains in domestic deliveries. In November, Maruti Suzuki’s sales dipped by 1,100 units to 153,500 vehicles, as exports fell 19%.

The Nikkei notes that domestic demand for passenger vehicles in India has slowed since July because of rising fuel prices, a cooling economy, ebbing consumer sentiment, tighter credit and the lingering effect of floods in southern India.
