SAIC’s Sales Plunge 16% in China

China’s SIAC Motor Corp. reports its retail sales shrank 16% to 480,900 units last month.

Volumes fell 9% to 765,100 units for the company’s VW venture and 15% to 693,700 vehicles for its GM partnership. The Chinese passenger vehicle market contracted 12% to 8.35 million

Through the first five months of 2019, SAIC’s deliveries of vehicles it makes through partnerships with General Motors and Volkswagen fell 17% to 2.47 million vehicles. The overall Chinese market for passenger vehicles contracted 12% to 8.35 million units over the same period.
