German tuner RUF GmbH, which has specialized in making modified Porsche models, introduced its first internally developed vehicle this week at the Geneva auto show.

The new CTR features a RUF-designed carbon fiber monocoque structure with a steel frame. The lightweight chassis results in the car’s overall dry weight of 2,640 lbs.

Exterior styling is reminiscent of the early 1990s Porsche 911 664 and power comes from a Porsche-derived, twin-turbo 3.6-liter flat-six. The rear-mounted engine makes 700 hp and 649 lb-ft of torque. RUF says the car can zip from zero to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds and hit 125 mph in 9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 225 mph.

The engine is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission that transmits power to the rear wheels. A dual-clutch gearbox also is said to be in the works.

Handling is provided by double-wishbone control arms with pushrod shock absorbers. The brakes feature 6-piston fixed calipers up front and 4-piston units in the rear.

The 2017 model celebrates the 30th anniversary of the original “Yellowbird” CTR. RUF plans to build 30 of the new CTRs with a manual transmission and an unspecified number of vehicles with the dual-clutch gearbox.
