Toyota Motor Corp. is recalling 615,000 Sienna minivans in the U.S. to fix a shift lever that could slip out of Park and allow the vehicle to roll away.
The problem involves 2004-2005 and 2007-2009 Siennas produced at Toyota's Indiana plant. Toyota is recalling another 79,000 Siennas in Canada and elsewhere.
Toyota says that a damaged shift lock solenoid in recalled vehicles could allow the driver to shift the vehicle out of Park without first depressing the brake pedal. The company says the vehicle cannot slip out of Park on its own.
Toyota has received of 24 reports minor accidents in the U.S. and Canada, including two with minor injuries.
