AutoForecast Solutions in Chester Springs, Pa., also says such a vehicle is in the works. Ford declined to comment.
The pickup truck would share a rear-wheel-drive body-on-frame chassis with the Bronco (pictured in teaser image), according to the reports. Automobile says production of the pickup could begin in 2022, but AutoForecasts says the launch won’t come until 2024.
Ford previously has said it is developing a new crossover vehicle based on the Escape, which rides on a front-wheel-drive unibody chassis. That vehicle, which has been nicknamed the “Baby Bronco,” is due next year.
The Bronco pickup will be a four-door, double-cab model that competes against the Jeep Gladiator, Automobile says. The pickup will share powertrains—including a hybrid variant—with the Bronco SUV, according to the report.
