Porsche AG is moving forward with its high-performance 911 GT2 RS sports car, but the vehicle won’t be quite as powerful as originally planned, Autocar reports.

Previous reports suggested the car’s twin-turbo 3.8-liter 6-cylinder engine would be tuned to make 700 hp. But Autocar says the carmaker had to cut output to 650 hp because the extra 50 horses would have required an expensive water injection cooling system to help keep temperatures down.

The new 911 GT2 should be ready by the end of the year, unnamed sources tell the British enthusiast magazine. Porsche hasn’t officially confirmed the program. But spy shots of the car being tested at Germany’s Nurburgring course were widely circulated last summer.

Porsche last used the 911 GT2 name in 2011. That vehicle made about 615 hp. In the current 911 Turbo S, the 3.8-liter engine generates 560 hp.
