Toyota Motor Corp.’s Lexus luxury unit plans to introduce a pair of new SUV/crossover models this year.
Citing recent patent filings, Autocar says Lexus is readying a production version of last year’s compact UX concept (pictured) with conventionally powered and hybrid variants. Lexus declined to comment.
The UX crossover will serve as the brand’s new entry-level model, essentially replacing the aging CT hatchback in Lexus’ lineup, according to Autocar. The CT is expected to be discontinued next year.
Also said to be in the works is a stretched version of the current RX crossover. The new RX L range will add a third row of seats to accommodate as many as seven people, Autocar says. A hybrid variant of that model is expected too.
