General Motors Co. has fired 2,700 employees of its subsidiary in Venezuela and wired severance pay to their bank accounts, employees tell Reuters.

The workers say GM has been dismantling its assembly plant in Venezuela for some time. They say the facility hasn’t made any vehicles since early 2016 because of difficulty obtaining U.S. currency with which to buy parts.

Last week a Venezuelan court ordered the plant be seized to resolve a 17-year-old dispute with two dealers, according to Reuters. The news service says the country’s labor minister has invited the head of GM Venezuela to present options to revive the facility and “restore normality.”
