An internal assessment by Audi AG managers complains of a “disastrous” lack of leadership by the Volkswagen Group unit’s executive board, including CEO Rupert Stadler, Bild am Sonntag says.
VW has launched a groupwide effort to simplify and streamline operations and foster a less autocratic management structure. But the report cited by Bild says managers claim the Audi board hasn’t shown interest in implementing changes or preparing for the future.
CEO Stadler also has been criticized for his handling of Audi’s role in VW’s diesel emission scandal. The unit is embroiled in charges in Germany, the U.S. and Australia of rigging diesel and/or gasoline engines to cheat on pollution tests.
