Renault SA sold a record 3.76 million vehicles last year, compared with 3.47 million in 2016. It was the company’s fifth consecutive year of record-high results.

Demand for Renault brand cars and light commercial vehicles rose 7% to 2.67 million vehicles in 2017. Dacia and Lada brand sales jumped 12% to 655,200 units and 18% to 335,600 units, respectively.

Volumes rose in all of Renault’s major national markets. Growth was led by gains in France (+26% to 673,900 units), Russia (+28% to 448,300), Germany (+6% to 228,000) and Italy (+10% to 215,900).

Renault predicts the global car maker will expand 3% this year, with increases of 1% in Europe, 5% in China, 6% in India and 10% in Russia. The company anticipates continued but unspecified growth for itself this year, largely because of new or refreshed models.
