Renault Sales Grew 3% in 2013

Renault SA's global vehicle sales last year climbed to 2.63 million units from 2.55 million in 2012, helped by a 19% gain for its entry-level Dacia brand.

Renault brand global sales, which accounted for 81% of group deliveries, advanced only 8,500 units to 2.1 million. But Dacia sales jumped 69,500 units to 429,500.In Europe, Renault's group sales advanced 2% in a market that shrank 2%, enabling the company to increase its share 0.4 points to 9.5%. Renault says its brands accounted for six of the 10 best-selling passenger cars in France last year.

The company's international sales rose only 4%, held back by international sanctions in Iran, where Renault sales were shut down in July. Excluding Iran, international deliveries increased 10%. The company is focusing on sales, led by Dacia, in emerging markets to spur growth.

Renault says it sold 51% 1.3 million vehicles outside Europe. Deliveries climbed 11% to a record 210,100 units in Russia and grew 19% to 141,200 in Argentina.
