The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance is further integrating the operations of its member companies in a bid to double the group’s savings to €10 billion by 2022.

Carlos Ghosn, chairman of all three companies, says the objective is to gain efficiency. He emphasizes that the latest structural steps aim to build synergies, not alter responsibilities.

The new scheme adds such areas as quality assurance and vehicle service operations to the list of already-integrated activities that include product development, engineering and purchasing.

Mitsubishi Motors Corp. joined the alliance in 2016 when Nissan acquired a controlling 34% stake in the company. MMC will begin its integration by joining the shared business development, quality and purchasing organizations in April. Additional areas will be added beginning next year.
