Renault SA has halted plans to build small commercial vans with Moscow-based truckmaker ZIL because the weakening ruble makes the project unprofitable, Reuters reports.

ZIL signed a preliminary agreement in August to assemble Renault and Fiat vans at a factory in Moscow.

Reuters says ZIL had planned to make as many as 25,000 Renault Master and 25,000 Fiat Ducato vans annually beginning in the first half of this year.
