PSA Peugeot Citroen confirms a report by Les Echos that it won't replace its slow-selling Peugeot 207 Plus supermini and 807 large minivan. The timing of the phase-outs isn't clear.

Dropping the two models is part of a strategy by CEO Carlos Tavares to simplify the company's product lineup. He also wants to make Peugeot the company's small-car specialist by shrinking its models from 25 today to 16 by 2018 and 13 by 2022.

Automotive News Europe cites analysts who predict the company will eventually drop the 4008 crossover (a variant of the Mitsubishi ASX), iOn electric car (a variant of Mitsubishi's iMiEV), and 207CC and 308CC two-door convertible hardtops.

PSA has either denied or declined comment on the future of those models.
