PSA Group vow to set a new benchmark for European light vans this summer when it introduces all-new passenger models under its Citroen, Opel, Peugeot and Vauxhall brands.

The new products will replace the company’s current Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Opel/Vauxhall Combo vans. At least some of the new models are likely to be unveiled at the Geneva auto show next month.

The vehicles will include the company’s latest driver-assist technologies and advanced powertrains. PSA claims the vans will establish new standards for comfort, efficiency, maneuverability and safety in Europe’s growing compact van segment.

Each of the four brands will offer details about the next-generation models, including their names, beginning next week. Dealers will start taking orders in May, with deliveries to follow in September, according to the company.

The vehicles will ride on a platform derived from the company’s “EMP2” chassis. Each brand will offer its van in two lengths, and both sizes will be available in five- and seven-seat layouts. PSA promises distinctly different interiors for each marque. The company also will add commercial versions for all four brands later this year.

PSA will produce the vehicles at its factories in Mangualde, Portugal, and Vigo, Spain. The company, citing ambitious but unspecified sales goals, expects to add additional production shifts at both plants later this year.
