PSA Group’s Citroen unit plans to launch a new flagship sedan in 2019 or early 2020, Autocar reports.
The vehicle will be based on the C-xperience concept vehicle (pictured) that Citroen unveiled at the 2016 Paris auto show, according to the British enthusiast magazine. Citroen CEO Linda Jackson confirms a large sedan is in the works without providing further details.
The new model will replace both the C5 sedan in Europe and larger C6 model, which currently is available only in China. With sedan sales plummeting in Europe, China is expected to be the largest market for the new flagship model.
Measuring 191 inches from front to rear, the C-xperience is about the same size as the C6. Jackson says the new model will redefine the ideal of luxury comfort and include some of the concept model’s “avant-garde” styling cues.
