PSA Plans Pickup Truck Factory in Tunisia

PSA Group and import partner STAFIM will begin assembling pickup trucks in Tunisia in mid-2018.

The companies aim for annual output of about 1,200 Peugeot-brand trucks, which will be assembled from kits and marketed locally. The partners didn’t say where the factory will be located or which vehicle they will produce.

PSA doesn’t currently offer a pickup truck. But last April CEO Carlos Tavares said the company’s “Push to Pass” initiate to debut 34 models by 2021 would include a small pickup

Multiple media reports last spring suggested PSA was developing a compact truck based on Toyota Motor Corp.’s aging HiLux model.
