PSA Group has begun making 3-cylinder gasoline engines at its retooled factory in Tychy, Poland.

The plant eventually will have annual capacity to build 460,000 of the 1.2-liter powerplants, according to Automotive News Europe. The online newspaper notes that PSA makes the same “EB” engine at two plants in France and one in China. The carmaker plans to open two more facilities to make EB engines, in Hungary and India, later this year and in 2020, respectively.

PSA acquired the Tychy plant in 2017 when it spent $2.5 billion to buy Opel Automobile GmbH from General Motors Co. The factory has undergone a $250 million overhaul to switch from diesel to gasoline engine production.
