PSA Group’s upscale DS brand has introduced the DS 7 Crossback, a luxury crossover vehicle, to cap its lineup.
The new model is the first crossover in DS’s European lineup. The brand also markets the compact DS 6 crossover in China. PSA will build the DS 7 in Shenzhen, China, and Mulhouse, France.
The company touts the DS 7’s “powerful and sensual” exterior and “haute couture” interior details. The car will debut with a special “X 74 La Premiere” version with unique black, gray and white color scheme.
DS 7 Crossback will compete with luxury crossovers ranging from the BMW X1 to the Range Rover Evoque. PSA will offer the vehicle in Europe with diesel, gasoline and hybrid powertrains ranging in output from 130 hp to 300 hp.
PSA relaunched the DS name, which it introduced 60 years ago, in Europe in 2014. The marque’s global sales last year fell 15% to 86,000 units.
