Porsche Sets Sales Record

Volkswagen AG's Porsche unit delivered a record 162,100 vehicles last year, up 15%. The company's Cayenne SUV accounted for 84,000 units of the volume.

In Porsche's largest regional market, Africa/Asia-Pacific/Middle East, demand jumped 20% to 61,500 units, including 37,400 in China, in 2013.

Volume advanced 4% to 51,000 vehicles in Europe, including an 18% hike to 20,600 units in Germany. Sales in the Americas rose 21% to 49,600 units; the U.S. accounted for 85% of the total.

Porsche predicts even stronger results this year with the introduction of its Macan small SUV and 911 Targa sports car.
