Porsche Invests in Israeli Vision Startup

Porsche AG is part of a $19 million funding round for TriEye Technologies Ltd., an Israeli startup that is developing sensing technology that can “see” through bad weather.

The size of Porsche’s investment has not been revealed.

The Tel Aviv-based company is touting a tiny camera that use operate in the shortwave infrared (SWIR) band to peer through rain, fog and other low-visibility conditions. The sensor could be used by advanced driver assistance features, autonomous vehicles and robots, according to the company.

TriEye has raised $22 million in a previous funding. The company says its SWIR camera will be ready for sample testing next year.
