General Motors Co.'s Opel unit will add a large SUV to its lineup in 2017 as the brand's top-end model, according to Germany's Auto Bild.

The magazine says the €26,000 ($35,900) vehicle, code named Monza SUV, will be produced at Opel's plant in Russelsheim.

The SUV reportedly will share much of the front-end styling of the Monza coupe concept presented by Opel at last year's Frankfurt auto show. It is expected to measure slightly more than 16 feet long.

The new model will offer the same engine choices of Opel's similarly priced Insignia midsize sedan already produced at Russelsheim. The factory, which is adding a €230 million ($317 million) product development center, is scheduled to begin making the Zafira Tourer MPV in 2017.

In January GM CEO Mary Barra said Russelsheim would add an unspecified new model a few years from now.
